Frequently Asked Questions

Group Parking Facility

Before you use a group facility you can verify yourself for FREE by sending a photo of yourself holding your photo ID to ID@bikelink.org or text it to (510) 824-8244. Use text for the quickest response.

Your verification will be processed within 4 business hours. Please make sure your ID is legible. You will receive an email or text back when group facility access has been granted. Your card will work at group facilities immediately after you receive the notification.

If you use a group facility before you have done ID verification you will be automatically connected with an operator who will verify your ID through a camera. There is a $5 fee for this verifcation.

At a group parking facility, your bike may be impounded if you leave it past the maximum rental duration. We will make every effort to contact you before taking such action.

The value on your card is displayed whenever you start or end a rental. Your card balance can not be viewed online.

An additional set of stickers costs $5. Click here to buy more stickers. Alternatively, you can use a temporary hang tag (provided at the facility) to mark the additional bike with your BikeLink® card number.

There is a limit of one parked bike per card. If you need to park more than one bike at a location, please use a card for each bike. Please make sure that any bike you park in the facility is marked with the BikeLink® card number you used to check in.

As long as the bike is marked with the number on the back of the card you used to check in, our auditors will know that the bike belongs to you. You can use a temporary hang tag provided at the facility.

We welcome cyclists of all ages! Everyone parking a bike in the facility should have their own card, including kids. Parents are responsible for children using the facility. If your child does not have a photo ID, you should complete the first time ID check with your child.

On average it takes less than 10 minutes to enter, find a spot and securely lock a bike in the facility. The 10-minute rule helps us to screen for suspicious activity. If you exit more than 10 minutes after entry, a silent and/or audible alarm is triggered and BikeLink® staff will check the activity and security of the station. If you have questions or concerns about this policy, please contact us.

Any person legitimately entering the facility should have and use a BikeLink® card, even if they are just running back in to retrieve something. We have had security breaches in the past where a vetted cardholder has allowed entry to someone else. If you have safety concerns, please contact us and/or law enforcement if you believe a crime is in progress.

If a friend who does not have their own card is accompanying you, please set a good example by having your companion wait outside the facility.

Every time you insert the card and press the button, the system thinks that you are either parking your bike or retrieving your bike.

If you need to re-enter and your bike is parked inside, follow the prompts for retrieving bike. Collect your items. Upon exiting, insert card and follow prompts for parking bike so that the system knows that your bike is still inside.

If you need to re-enter and your bike is not inside, follow the prompts for parking bike. Collect your items. Upon exiting, insert card and follow prompts for retrieving bike so that the system knows that your bike is not parked inside.

A Bikehangar is a public multi-space, one-door bike parking facility located in a car parking space.

The Bikehangars contain bike racks similar to an on-street bike corral for users to lock their bikes.

Open the BikeLink app at the bikehangar where you intend to store your bike (be sure you have bluetooth turned on). Press rent and enter the desired rental time (note that you will be refunded for any unused rental time, so be sure your rental time is of sufficient duration). Wait for the latch to unlock. Turn the knob, lift the door open, & lock your bike bike. Then close the door and then turn the latch until it CLICKS

Lock your bike to the bike rack inside the bike hangar. Lock both wheels and frame.

No, you should not leave accessories in the Bikehangar. Accessories such as child seats and panniers may cause an obstruction to other users. If you have biking accessories we recommend using a BikeLink eLocker.

Force quit the app and try again. If you continue to experience issues, call BikeLink support at 888-540-2957.

This means one or more of the parking spaces is not rented. Please take a photo and send it to support@bikelink.org. If you see a Bikelink ID sticker on any of the bikes, please include those numbers. Close the door, then end your rental and lock the bikehangar again. If you left the bikehangar without ending your rental, call 888-540-0546 and let BikeLink support know you need to end your rental because you did not park your bike.

No, at this time you may only rent 1 bikehangar space at a time.

YES! We recommend you always lock your bike when it is stored in the bikehangar.

Bikehangars require less space and do not have individual spaces. They are a larger locker with one space for six bikes. Note that since this is a shared space you need to lock your bike inside the hangar and not leave any accessories.

At this point, the bikehangars accommodate standard bike sizes only.
